Oh yeah, totally normal. Give him a few days and he'll probably hide less (just based on my limited personal experience so far).
 
ok, I was just hoping to see him go out at dusk, poor little guy =( he's to be so stressed, I should feed him after the 3 days? or more
 
Wait 3 minimum. Judge his comfort level by his ventures out (while you're not looking of course). You've got aspen, so you might be able to see tell tale signs that he's roaming by creating little paths, usually around the perimeter.

But anyway... 3 to 5 days is a good settling in period.
