What is a good substrate?

i'll have to get some Yucca for my viv's, i like the look of the natiralistic display, so i'll hae to pick some up at the weekend at the local garden centre, if they have any in.

Errr....Sweden....sorry!

It's a pretty economical substrate here. I just buy a few bags whenever I'm running low and going to an expo. There are brand name bags of the stuff at the local reptile place but they charge about 5 times what I pay for it in a no-name bag. I was thinking of using reptibark but comparatively it was too expensive. 2 bags would have been enough to set up the terrarium and would have cost as much as more than a years suply of the beech chips so there's no contest there. Thanks for the nice compliments on the terrarium though. My boyfriend built the box and did the electrics and I did the interior design!!

I'll have to check and see if they have anything like it at any of the shows that I am going to go to. Was it hard to build that viv? I was thinking of building one myself instead of buying one.

ChissiPSS the viv it's self is easy to build, the hard part is getting the correct glass and runners for the viv (no decent supplier's near me) and getting the electrics right if you are using electric switches and heating/humidity controle's. The best plan i find is to keep as much of the wiring out of the viv that is possable, and try and design it that way from the start.

Building the terrarium

I'm starting it up in a new topic, cos this is going too off topic!!!
Go to husbandry and basic care 'Building the terrarium'
Cheers,
Adèle
