Hello all,
Still new to corn snakes /snakes in general and Iam highly cautious/protective
Iam wanting to know if any what would be or is there any way to really make sure your snake doesn't get mites??? 5the very thought freaks me out does bedding have any influence on it? We use aspen and temps seem right digital therm/humidity ..just very curious thanks to all for any input or advice
 
Mites come from other snakes, sometimes via things like your clothing or their bedding supplies. My personal guidelines are:

- If you buy any new snakes, make sure you house them away from your existing ones and don't share equipment. Wash your hands well between handling. That's just standard quarantine for any new arrival though - could also be carrying other transmittable problems.

- If you visit somewhere else and handle reptiles, again, wash your hands well before you come home.

- Buy things like bedding from a source you trust.

- Only shop in stores with reptiles that you trust to look after their animals properly.

- If you go to buy a reptile and you see any sign of mites, run like the wind and don't look back!

Sometimes it can be the luck of the draw, but *touch wood*, I've owned a range of Corns (plus a King, BPs and Sinaloans) for 20 years now and have never had a mite problem.
 
Wow thank you !! Seee I always always tell my husband to wash his hands after holding one then and then going to hold the other thanks for the info
