What is safe for a snake?

Mordred a hungry...
Hi, this may sound dumb, but is a flash from a camera traumatic for a snake in anyway? Will it scare him and cause him to stress? Please don't think it's dumb, I care about him and I don't want to stress him out.

Mine sometimes give me a dirty look, but that's about it. Generally they ignore it as if they hadn't even noticed.
Someone else may have more definitive info, it never occurred to me to wonder.

I have taken pics with flash, but it depends which animal I'm photographing. For example my oldest corn don't bother flashing even when feeding, but my youngest is reacting to it. My ballpython doesn't mind at all as well.

When seeing someone elses snakes (or other animals) I usually ask permission to take pics with flash.

So as nutshell, I think they react to flashing, only difference is do they scare it or not.

I noticed when snapping pictures of my ball the jumped when the flash went off. I dont know if it was just because she was scared from moving from the petstore box to the tank but it did bother her. But my corn dosent care at all lol

It's not actually a dumb question. You know those great, big, leafy sea-dragons that most aquaria have? They get startled by camera flash, and can have a heart attack and die from it! Odd! That's why there are always signs asking you not to use your flash, and the lights on those tanks are on dimmers so that they come up slowly in the morning and go down slowly in the evening.

Fortunately for us, snakes are not like that!

I don't use flash with Zeebo mostly because it makes his eyes look weird. :shrugs: I wouldn't worry too much about it though
