What is the Max temp for UTH?

I have a UTH with a rehostat and set at low, the mat will still sometimes get up to 93 F. Is that too high? The cool end reads about 70 typically (room temp).

I have a thermometer with a probe with the probe under the aspen substrate touching the glass over the UTH.

93F is too high!! Don't know if it will burn the snake but its for sure not the right temp... Cool side should be 75F-80F and warm side should be 80F-85F try to not let it drop below 70F and above 90F.

I should add that the warm side is never a constant 93. It flucuates from 80 to 93 throughout the day. And that is with the rheostat set at it's lowest setting. The next setting would be off which turns off the entire mat and then the whole tank ends up at room temp.

Without the use of a rheostat the UTH ends up at 110. So what is your suggestion to get my UTH at a constant good temp?

What rheostat/thermostat do you use?

If I'm to get the cool end to 75-80, that means I have to crank up my furnace which in turn will likely make the warm side a few degrees warmer than it is. And if it's getting up to 93 now with the furnace set at 70, I'd hate to think how hot it'd get with the furnace set higher.

I realize 93 is too hot, but how do I cool it down? :shrugs:

Im guessing that either your room temp is flucuating alot or you need to buy a new rheostat or thermostat... I just use a home made rheostat! If you search it will show you how to make one... Other then that.. I don't really know becoz theres diffrent brands of uth and each one of them have diffent max heats... But if its your room that flucuats alot then a thermostat is need..
