Goodness, I went to check on my corn this morning and I found this in the water bowl..

I have never seen my corn produce anything like that ?! I've had her for 5 months now, and she's only ever had poop that looks like this..

Did she poop out a parasite, or what on earth is that ?! It doesn't move or anything. It's scaring the life our of me, though.

And, also.. I have another question. Do different snakes have different poop ? My ball python's poop looks more like rabbit poop or something.. little brown lumps.
Why does my corn snakes regular poop look more like bird poop ? Just different digestive systems ?

Anyway.. I'd love it if someone can tell me what those little round balls are ?

Thanks
Jeni

I'm not sure what that is but my uneducated guess is that something parasitic may be going on. If I were you, I'd bag that stuff and take it to a vet to be analyzed.

The poo and urates in the second picture appear to be normal and healthy for a corn.

They look like underdeveloped eggs. Thats if your snake is a male or a female. Here is Kathy loves email [email protected]. Send her the picture she will tell you what it is.

Wow I can see where they do look like eggs. Interesting, I am curious to find out what it is though. Post and let us know what you find out.

Well, my snake is only about a year old now.. she is about 19 inches long or so.
I am guessing she is a female because she is so small. But she may be a male.

I will e-mail kathy love, asap.

Thanks!
Jeni

Let us know what you find out from Kathy Love. I am sure everyone would be interested in hearing what she may think!

Kathy love e-mailed me back, and she says she has no idea ! :eek1:

She says she's seen it a few times, but never went to the vet with it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Cut one open. See if something inside.

Or you go to a vet with it. I'm really curious as to what it might be :)

Looks like a parasite to me, possibly worms. I suggest picking up this book from a library or chapters or something. Not trying to scare you or anything, but I have seen many parasites in mammals over the years.

Understanding Reptile Parasites : A Basic Manual for Herpetoculturists & Veterinarians by Roger Klingenberg

I don't think it's a parasite.. it's not alive, and it's just goo inside all of those egg looking things.

I am wondering if it's just part of the mouse that's undigested or something... like a digestive issue.
Kathy love said she only saw that in snakes that had regurg problems or digestive problems....

My snakes always been good with that, so.. I have no idea ! I am going to save it and find a vet to look at it.

hemolymph,
You need to keep us posted on what it is OK. Ill do research aswel on it.

That stuff looks really weird to me...I've never seen anything like it in my snake. I haven't had it properly sexed yet (but I'm assuming it's a female) and have yet to see that stuff. I honestly would not hesitate in taking the pic or a sample to a vet that deals with herps...better safe than sorry! Kepps us updated, please!

very strange - I've never seen anything like it. My first thought was the same as some of you - looks like underdeveloped eggs.
I am leaning away from the parasite idea. I've never seen anything like it and I've had the misforutne to see a number of reptile parasites.
Let us know if you learn anymore, and I would also like to know how big the ball shapes were.

I have a corn and found something that looked just the same but it wasnt' in a water dish. I found it and looked through it and it looked like undigested mouse. smelled like a rotten one too. I would be very interested in finding out what it is when you do. I haven't had a problem with him regurging though. He hasn't been properly sexed either but I think its a he.

you know - silly though this comment is - they also look like spider cocoons - don't suppose your snake has access to spiders?

Showed this to a friend of mine that has years of experience with reptiles. He believes it is just partial remnants of the mouse that have not been digested by the snake!

Yeah-- I am starting to really think that.
