What is wrong with my setup?

You're not being rude. I greatly appreciate the help.
I am using this device. Pointing it in the tank at the substrate, tree, water dish etc...
I am pointing it in the room, at the floor, walls, and furniture. The room ranges from 84-86. I averaged it to 85. The top of my PC is hitting 95.
The ceiling fan is on whenever I'm in this room.
I opened my mouth, and it reads 98.

Also on a tangent, is the fan fully functioning on your computer? Cause that's still freaking hot o_O unless you've got a whole server and network in there your computer is in trouble too.

Ya it's a Server. All the excess heat is rising to the top 84 at the base. It's not as important to me as Max though.

Just think about it you live in Virgina Beach summer highs mid 90's maybe and you say your room is 85, I don't know but don't think it's correct the temp gun or the temp. Don't you have a room thermostat?

Well I'm thinking now that for both issues, Max and your computer set up that there needs to be some sort of fan, air conditioning unit etc. in that room if that's the case.
Also, just out of morbid curiosity, how could you stand to be in there?
I think max needs a really big bath in his water dish to cool down.
Now that you've unplugged the UTH what is the glass reading?

I'll admit, it doesn't feel like a summer day in Va Beach in here, but I don't have the humidity in here as well. I do admit that just sitting here in this room I do break a light shine from sweat.
No room thermostat, Central heat/cool.

I moved the tree to the right (away from the PC, UTH & vent) UTH & Light unplugged. Max has now gone inside the tree on the substrate.

You still need more hides and is the water dish over the heater now, Snake Soup, yum. Also temp on glass over UTH ot on top of bedding.

Yes the water dish is over the UTH, (unplugged) The temp on the tank glass (right on the UTH) is 89.

check mine, I don't know if it's a good tank but has lots of hides and I regulated the temp adding a cork tile on the glass

you are regulating that uth? I had a crappy regulator but when I added the cork tile under the bedding I was able to lower down the temp, I had 96°F temps too hehe

No regulator. Just plugged in the wall (not anymore). stuck to the bottom glass (outside). aspen layed down.

Unless you can get your computer room down to a lower temp, I would suggest moving Mr. Snake to a cooler room. As others have mentioned, find a rheostat or thermostat to control the UTH so you can plug it back in. This forum has tons of info about them, but ask if you need help. I'm sure you will figure everything out , but don't make the snake wait.

go to "Youtube.com" and type in a search for "Introduction to the care of corn snakes". I made these videos and I really think they will help you learn what you need to find for a good setup for your snake...good luck to you..:):)
