What is wrong with my snakes tail?!?!?

There is a small portion at the very tip of his tail that is about 2 - 4 mm long that is not his color (its dark unlike his bright orange body). That part of his body looks... dead and its not that large I just would like to know if it is typical or if any action needs to be taken?

It sounds like a previous bad shed, the tip of the tail may be dead, and your snake may end up losing just a few millimeters of it.

Has he shed recently?

I cant really give you an answer because im only new to this myself.. but i have read about poor sheds being left on the tip of the tail and this causing a few problems.

If in doubt though, go to the vets... :)
