What size UTH?

Wanted: Jasper Co Okeetee
I brought some sterilite containers and I need to get some UTH heat for them. I know some you can use some on plastic and some you can't. I believe the containers are 12 qts for hatchlings and some yearlings. (wife took the sticker off already :) What size UTH? The ones up to 5 gallons? Or the ones that say for use 10-20 gallons?

I am thinking the smaller one. I think the mini UTH is 4 watts and the size is 4x5 inches?

My house temp goes no lower than 68 and it is usually between 68-70.

Thanks for the advice..

UTH's get very hot---I dont think that's a good idea at all.

You should have either built flexiwatt into the rack system, or get an infared bulb and heat it up that way. I've found that rack systems in general keep things a bit warmer than if they were just out in the open.

Reason I ask is because I believe there were a few people that used UTH under there sterilite containers. I just need to search and look to see who they were...

I actually did use UTH on (not the Sterlite) but the acrylic vivs, not sure what they are called, its the kind you buy at Petco. But I also did not stick them directly to the container, I bought a cheap 5x7 picture frame, threw away the frame, mounted them to the glass. I then, using jb weld, yea I'm a redneck, mounted marbles to the underside (same side I stuck the uth) to make legs, then set the acrylic viv on that. I had no problems. I used the 5gl size and they kept the temps just fine.
