The hottest surface the snake can touch should be around 85-88 max. The top end of the safe range is 90 degrees. If the mats are hotter (which they probably will be), then you need a thermostat to control them and keep the temp down to safe levels.
If the vivs are set up the same and the mats are the same size, you could run both mats from one stat.

The air temp in the viv doesn't matter, because the snake isn't up there. You need to be measuring the temp where the snake is, which is on the floor.
Corns can cope with lower temps better than temps that are too high. If you get the temp right on the warm side of the tank at floor level, then you'll be sorted.
