What was your first experience with a snake?

My first recollections of snake experience was when my dad & I found a Garter snake. He saw it, picked it up, and told me what it was. I was probably around 12 or 13. From that day on I'd look for them and catch them myself. My second biggest memory of experience with snakes was when we (my family & I) went to a reptile zoo. While there we attended a show in which a reptile handler showed and talked about a Boa Constrictor, a 60 lb one at that! After his speech he asked if anyone wanted to hold it and my brother and I were very excited to do so. The handler came over to us and actually draped the Boa over both of us! I was about 14 yrs old at the time. I've got a photo of the event somewhere, of me and my brother with this 60 lb Boa around us (wish I could find that photo). I still distinctly remember how heavy that snake felt!

The rest of my story, as in how I actually came to own a corn snake, is here:

I was probably about 7. I went out to check on my chickens and collect eggs and found a huge gopher snake wrapped up in the netting on the pen. I ran to my grandma to tell her and she told me to get a shovel. I thought she was going to cut it free and let it go. She cut it for sure, into pieces. Pretty sucky first snake experience, but now the Gophers that show up get a trip down to the river!

I had a nice fear of snakes until my bestfriends birthday last year when i drank to much
and couldn't get out of my chair and he put his 3ft ball python in my lap.
so thanks to a 1/5th of jack and a nice ball python i now own a corn snake lol
and i got him to change over his ball to f/t instead of live

I'm always catching wild snakes where I'm not supposed to... wait one day , im going to be screwing arround, and then pick up some poisonus snake and get bit, oh well, it will be a fun death.

Note to self: Do not go to old person home. Go out and pick up a rattler.
