When do I feed?

Well I have fed my little guy twice now since I have had him (every 5 to 7 days) and hes doing great. Both times he did great!:dancer:. But my question is should I be able to tell with his activity when its time to feed him. I was told that he should look towards the top of the tank or move around his tank alot but he doesn't he just chills (take in mind I'm not home all day so I dont get much time to see him) but he just hangs out for the most part. If I put my hand in the tank he will come out and see whats up but other than that he doesnt give me any notification that hes hungry. Is that normal or what should I do?

Most of his cruising for food is done while you're asleep, most likely. The presence of a healthy poop or two in his viv is a solid indication (no pun intended) that the last meal is history.

where should I look for this healthy poop. I have ran my hands through his aspen and I havent found anything yet. He did poo/pee on me about a week ago but I thought he would go more than once.

check out the perimeter of the viv and around anything he can crawl around. They seem to like to stick to edges of things. Some seem to poop as they're drinking, or at least I guess that as 1/2 of vern poops were always right on the edge of the water dish.

You're doing the right thing... just keep feeding every 5 days or so. He'll take care of the rest. Sometimes they don't poop after every feeding. :shrugs:

And sometimes they make their deposits while they're digging around in the aspen, which will be very hard to find between total clean-outs.

Do a search for the munson plan! If your snake is a hatchling like it sounds like you should be feeding every 4-5 days according to the Munson plan but it will give you a guideline as to when to increase the size of prey items and increase the feeding interval.

hes on fuzzies now. THANK YOU EVERYONE, KEEP IT COMING.

It could just be an anomoly because they're babies, but both of my snakes were quite frantic in the couple of days before feeding, constantly out and around the viv, searching for an exit and just generally making themselves known.

After feeding I've barely seen them. Again this could be because they're young / new / environmental or whatever, but these are my experiances so far. I'll have to keep not of what they seem to do over the coming months!
