But now want ANOTHER!~
I don't know how that's possible man, I promised myself I wouldn't get sucked in. I thought you guys where all crazy for keeping more then one.

Anyway, I want any gray colored snake.

So for I only know of anerythristic Motley, Pewter, Lavenders, and Ghost.(Any others would be appreciated) Which I'm hoping to find by late Feb.

I will use a tub.

And for the question...

I have to keep the new guy seperated from all others for 2 months?

What is considered a safe distance? Just another room?

Yeah no fair what about the Charcoals, Nagini is hurt!

Welcome to the addiction! :)

I quarantine all new snakes regardless of where they came from. I keep them in another room on a different level of my house for 30 days. They are also treated for mites whether they have them or not. I won't take chances with a collection of almost 30 snakes, and prevention is much easier than the cure.

Thanks guys.
Charcoal looks awesome. (Searches google for granite) That one is very cool looking as well.

And I am planning on turning the basement into my other room. I will have two rooms now!

And by treating mites you mean the water method?

Sorry; I should have been more specific. :)

I prepare a sterilite container a few days before I get a new snake. I rinse it out, let it dry, and put a layer of aspen shavings in it. Then I spray Provent-a-mite on the shavings and make sure it is thoroughly dry. This product is very potent, and its residual effect will kill mites for approximately 30 days after application. Just be sure it is dry before putting your snake in the container, as it is toxic to them when it is still wet! Be sure to read and follow all label instructions because it is also toxic to birds, arachnids, amphibians, and will also kill your feeder crickets.

This may seem a bit extreme, but while a mite infestation is troublesome if you have only one or two snakes, an outbreak can be devastating to a large collection.

Hope that helps!

Kathy
