Is it too late to breed my female? I know that most snakes will go into brumation in a couple of months, but I just got a couple of male corns that were raised as pets that have never bred before and was thinking of putting them with a female to see if anything happens, is this a bad idea? Should I just wait till spring? Also how early will corns mate? We are planning on traveling some next summer and I want to try to hatch my babies out as soon as I can. Your advise is greatly apprieciated, thanks__TKO

No harm in trying it. I had an odd clutch in December once. Just keep a close eye on them while they're together if they're not used to each other.

If you wait until next Spring, you might well find that the hatchlings interfere with your Summer travel plans. Is there any way you could wait a year before breeding? That way you can make travel plans with confidence next year AND have quality time with your hatchlings the year after.

Hatchlings definetly need TLC. We weren't sure on the date exactly, but are going to NY sometime next summer. I may just take any babies I have left with me. My sister just moved there this summer and she is a corn lover just like me. We are very close and I miss her tons. I am planning on giving her some of my babies anyway and maybe I can sell some on the way. I will definetely watch my new males very close..Thanks>>TKO

I would worry more about having the new snakes quarantined to make sure they're completely healthy after moving into their new environment. How long have you had them?

I just got them yesterday, but was going to wait at least a week so they can get settled in and have their first meal, and you are right about making sure they are healthy, thanks__Twyla

Hello from your corn snake loving sister in NY. I just put a new snow corn male with a female to see what happens they get along great and have been breeding. We'll see. Good luck TKO with your new corns. Your Sister, Amanda
