When to Feed Snake on Treatment

Hey all,

Shady had some stuck shed issues on the very tip of her tail. I feel really bad about it, because I check her after each shed but with her Blizzard coloration the stuck shed was impossible to see on her thin little tail tip until it was clearly causing some constriction. I took her to the reptile vet in Fairfax, VA on Monday. I was incredibly impressed by them, for anyone in the area, look up SEAVs.

Anyway, the vet thought that the tissue would probably be fine and gave me some topical ointment and has me soaking her for 10-15 minutes every day for ten days. The issue is that tomorrow will have been 14 days since her last feeding (I didn't feed her right before I took her to the vet since she'd be stressing). I still have to handle her every day, but the vet said that it was fine to feed her on topical medication. I just don't know which is more important, that she eat tomorrow and get a 48 hour break from handling (I could still put the cream on without picking her up, but for the soaking I obviously have to handle her) or that the soaking continue every day for the full 10 days. She also really hates water for a corn snake, and soaking can make her a little stressed, so that complicates feeding in the middle of her treatment I think. At the most, she'd only have to wait to eat until next Thursday. Her tail seems to be healing well and I don't want to do anything that might change that. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks!

How old and how big is your snake? The older and bigger, the more inclined I would be to wait and finish treatment before feeding...

She's roughly 1 year old. I'm not entirely sure since I got her from Petsmart. They weighed her at the vet and said she was a good weight for her length and age, but I can't remember the exact number.

Hey, sorry about earlier I was posting from work, when I got home I weighed and measured her before giving her a soak.

She's approximately 32cm long, I couldn't get her to stretch out all the way but she looked just over 30 from my best guess. She weighs 107g.

I hope this helps.
