when to upgrade from pinks?

My Lucy is a ravenous feeder, she gets fed every 5 to 7 days, always go straight for her pinks and has not yet had a regurge. She's been tolerating 2 pinks now for about 5-6 feedings with barely a noticeable lump afterwards. Is she ready to switch to fuzzies? I've had her abt two months now and she's grown some but not really fast. Her energy level is great, she's had only one shed but I have a feeling she's gonna be shedding again soon. Any thoughts??? She's only about half an inch (a lil over 1 cm) in diameter right now. Would fuzzies be too much? :shrugs:

Well the call is really up to you but the general rule for what size to feed your snake is an food item that is 1 1/2 time the snake girth. Also if after you feed it something and it doesn't leave a noticeable lump, it's time to move up.

At this point I would start feeding it two pinkies for three or more feeding to get the snake adjusted to a larger meal. Then move to one small fuzzy or peach fuzzy. But understand that it will take the snake longer to consume the fuzzy. The poop will vary too. Maybe having fur in it and such. It also helps to slice the backs of the f/t fuzzy to help with digestion.

If you think she going to shed soon just keep an eye on the humidity. Should be about 40 -50 %. Misting is just one trick. But I would still try to feed your snake. Some snake don't eat and some do. You have to find out what your snake likes.
Keep us posted.

Good Luck

When our girl started to inhale the first pinkie, we offered 2 small, then one large and 1 small for 3 feedings. We fed her first small fuzzy today. She's 4 months old and has had 2 sheds, 29 days apart.

She weighs 20 grams, does that sound about right? I bought a new digital scale and I'm not sure how accurate it is.

The best thing to do would be to try to find peach fuzzies. Or small fuzzies at least.

Whenever I give my snake a larger meal, I think "There's no way that's going to fit". But he always eats it just fine. If you aren't seeing a lump, I'd say try something larger and just see what happens. I think you'll be surprised at what they can choke down.
