:wavey: Hi there.
This probably sounds so stupid, but do any of you have any suggestions where i can put my corn when tidying out his tank? :eek1:
Cheers.

That's not stupid. =P....I always try to have my mom hold mine, but of course she refuses to touch him. So I put him in a cash box thing..that slides open..and I leave him in that with it slid open so he can get more air, but not be able to get out. I would recommend getting a rubbermaid container and putting holes in the side, as you probably know, or have read, that some people actually keep their snakes in containers such as these (so it should be perfectly fine). And it won't take forever to clean his cage, so he won't be left there too long. =)

ah, now thats a good point! cheers for that.
I'd get my partner to handle him but he's just terrified of it!!! How silly! :shrugs:

Once I put my snake in the bathtub because there was nowhere else to put the poor guy.
He had fun exploring, but I was really concerned about him finding a way out.

I'd suggest one of those plastic boxes, yes, rubbermaid. I use them for everything. He used to eat in them (but not anymore), he travels around in them when I have to take him places, that's where he stays while I'm cleaning his cage. And one of the boxes is for the mouse to live in if he doesn't eat that week.

Those things are miracle boxes.

My mom doesn't mind holding him, it's my dad that hates touching or seeing him in general.

Tidy up his tank when you feed him. Put him in his seperate feeding container and then spiffy up his tank while feeding.

I just put the snake around my neck. I also have 2 children who are more than happy to assist in the process. Most of these are my son snakes and he has to clean them out himself. (I assist in the process) but we have 2 housed per tank and both of us hold one while he or I cleans the tank. I do feed them all in seperate containers and then wait 30 minutes before putting them back together again.

If I can't hold them, I put them in a large rubbermaid container with a lid while I clean. Make sure you have plenty of air holes if it's not real large as they are airtight.

Kritter Keeper

I'm looking to invest in a Kritter Keeper for trips to the vet and feeding/cleaning, etc. Any suggestions as to the minimum size for a 3.5 foot long corn. Any reasons why a different type of container would be better? Thanks!

Transporting

Any container big enough for the snake that is escape proof will work.... as long as it has air holes too! I personally transport my adult snakes in snake bags aka old pillowcases. I take the bags tie the tops and place them in a rubbermaid container that has holes and on my way I go. If there in the bag for a while they will be alright just make sure to bring them out for water and fresh air. A kritter keeper will work to, may wanna provide a hiding place or put the snake in a bag to keep him from getting stressed. Hope that helps some.... Amanda

Yup.

The pillowcase is a good call.

I use those too (inside a plastic carrier tank/tub) if I'm transporting any of my snakes. Inside a tub is a good idea as a pillowcase isn't waterproof and if the snake in question decides to poop .....
