Which scales are you buying to weigh your corns?

I just started scale shopping. I have seen numerous suggestions made by forum members to get scales from places like WalMart, Target, or an office supply store. I am interested to know SPECIFICALLY which models you guys are using from these sources. I have yet to see one that measures down to the .1 gram. They all read down to .1 ounces, but .1 ounces is like 2.8 grams. I need a scale that offers better than 2.8 gram accuracy. My currect food scale is digital, and can read down to 2 gram accuracy. It is insufficient for my purposes.

Going to amazon.com yielded many more options, but I love to buy locally from a brick/mortar store. I did go to a local head-shop today and they have all sorts of scales that measure down to .1 gram. They had a pocket sized scale that was $19, and weighs up to 600 grams in .1 gram incriments. They also had a nice larger scale that will do 1000 grams in .1 gram incriments...but it was $84 :(.

I don't particularly like the size of the $19 scale. A larger one would be better. I'll probably buy this one for now though. I figure 600 grams is pretty good all the way up to adulthood...assuming the container I weigh them is is not too heavy. I can use my other food scale once the snake is of ample size...as 2 grams of accuracy is probably plenty for a 600 gram snake...

So what scales are you guys finding locally that can offer .1 gram accuracy...or are you guys just getting food/postal scales with .1 ounce accuracy?

I like this scale and the AC adaptor. They go through batteries so fast! This scale has a lifetime warranty. The person selling them, Carolina Pet Supply, stocks this scale because he had a mealworm or something crawl inside his scale and break it, and the company replaced it immediately, no questions asked.

I got a scale for about $30 with 1 gm accuracy, which is fine for me, at Target. I don't have the box handy so I don't know the model.

Edit: If you want the info I can find it!

I use a £25 kitchen scale from Tesco... Does the job just fine...

(out of curiousity - is Tesco worldwide? is there tesco in the US?) =] an afterthought, thanks!

i just bought this scale!! Hope its as good as you say :D

Thanks for the response all of you!

Those scales have 1g accuracy. I need .1g accuracy.

I think I am going to get the small pocket scale ($19) from the head shop today during my lunch break. That's the fastest and cheapest way to get what I need. It's still a compromise, but we can't all have everything we want.

If my food scale with 2g accuracy ever fails, I would consider the one Nanci suggested. Looks like a nice scale, and can weigh heavier things.

Thanks so much Nanci.

I did some research based on your recomendation, and decided to get this scale. It seems that the Triton T2 has been released with various max weight capacities. I saw a 120g, 300g, and 550g model. I will be getting the one that goes to 550g with .1g accuracy.

I found a place that also sells the 200g calibration weight that the manufacturer calls for. Both items with 2-day air shipping is $35.02. I can save $5 by going with the slow-poke freight service, but I won't...shipping from AZ to NC will take a minimum of 4 days GROUND.

That's cool yours will weigh higher amounts! I really like it for weighing mice, too. It shuts itself off, but it does not shut off when you close the cover, so you have to shut it off first (if it hasn't shut itself off). I really like how fast it starts up, too.

I have the digital scale from Walmart that costs 19.98 or something like that on the change part of the price. It ways in 1 gram increments, and does ounces, lbs, and kgs. I like it but I do wish it had an ac adaptor. Next year when we get our tax return I will look into the one Nanci has.
