while eating, what does the tail do?

While eating, what does the rest of the snake do? It just occurred to me, watching Sherlock down another pinky, that the body/tail do funny things while the head is working. For a while the whole body down to the tail undulated back and forth while he was working out where to start on the pinky. About half way down the pinky he swung his whole body around 90 degrees and had about 3 inches of his tail straight up in the air for a while there. Now that the last limb of the pinky (the tail, yay for taking the right end first!) has disappeared from view, everything else has calmed down and gone still in the effort of swallowing. Too cute!

My guy rattles his tail like a rattle snake when he eats. I think its hilarious

I love it when they crawl or climb backwards as they swallow. It's quite common to find the snake hanging upside down from whatever purchase they can find on the container they are in. If the container is open then they tend to exit backwards over the side. The big snakes that are done with that silliness just rattle!

If I'm putting her down next to her food that's already sitting in her tank, she'll usually start eating before I can put her down. Usually the tip of her tail will wrap around one of my fingers.

My girl, Xia is a strange eater XD. She'll lift up her head and look towards the heavens while her tail hugs itself XD. My boy, worm, just sort of sits there
