Who needs BRBs...

When you've got iridescence like this?

My Brown House Snake (affectionately called Housie by me), Lady.

She shed the other week, and since she was digesting I wasn't able to see her new skin... It's very beautiful, if I may say so myself :p Only a quick shoot, since she's due to... release herself soon.

No offense to any BRB owners out there! I admit BRBs put her to shame, but I was shocked at how iridescent she is now... So I had to show her off :)

And ignore the sinks... bathroom has the best lighting in the house. I'm going to try to make a light tent soon, see if that'll help any.

I love house snakes. I like snakes that are subtle rather than flashy in their beauty, and I love the look of iridescence laid over the earthy tones.

How is Housie's temperament? There is a house snake much like her at the local reptile shop and I love him, but he's just so squirmy. He has so much personality but I don't think I have the patience for working with a small snake that flails around everywhere like he does! Is Housie pretty calm?

I agree! I love natural-colored snakes, such as greens, browns, black, and so on. I was really surprised by how much iridescence she had, though. No pictures I've seen really shows them as so flashy.
She's amazingly calm, actually. I got her thinking I'd be dealing with a flying worm, but she hasn't darted off once, not even while in shed. She doesn't move very much at all, actually. I was worried about her for a bit, but she seems healthy :) Shed for me, and ate for me, too, so she's just a calmer snake, I guess. She takes a bit longer to eat because she's so docile, but a little work will get her over that, I'm thinking.

Y'all need to stop posting pics of these gorgeous house snakes! I'm trying to convince myself that I don't really need one.

From what I've seen, males usually get to be 2-3 feet tops, females 3-4, though they occasionally get larger.

Haha, why would you lie to yourself? Everyone needs a Housie!

Lol! I was looking at this reply last night when my Mom came in. Her first words where "Oh, what's that? We need one!" She's no help at all either to my attempts at self-control!

I think she's beautiful! Even if I _do_ need my BRB :).

I've been curious about House Snakes for awhile, now. I've never seen one in person, so I guess I'm going to have to research them.

Thank you! And BRBs are amazing, I agree. Just couldn't think up a title :p

And I'll say it again, everyone needs a Housie!
