WHY do the eggs dent just before hatching?

Let me preface this question with the statement that I haven't read any books on the matter. But I did do a search here and didn't find the answer to this question.

So what gives? Why do they suddenly dent even if you haven't opened up any air holes (i.e., ambient humidity hasn't dropped)?

The baby snake inside the egg absorbs the yolk just before hatching, so with less yolk in the egg it dents in.

I really have no clue since my main research is on care and genetics when it comes to corns. I am sure many more answers will come your way though.
Do you have eggs right now?

Ps. Brandi, your avatar is an awesome picture.
