Why has my adult corns behavior changed?

I got Cocoa at Christmas time. When I got him he was very content to be handled. He shed the week after I got him. Not a perfect shed, But didn't really have any trouble. Most of it was in one piece. I handle him every day. He never wanted to go back in his viv. But the last week and a half 2 weeks he has been very aggitated when I get him out. He is eating well and his temps are good all the way around. He hides sometimes but spends most of his nights roaming. Why the sudden change in his behavior. By the way I don't know that he is male I just call him that because it sounds better than it all the time.

Love is in the air, he may indeed be a he and is upset you are interupting his search for a mate. Ok this is a guess, but I think it may be what is happening. Other more experienced folks will be along to voice their oppinions.

thank you. I hoe that's what it is. My cocoa is a very sweet snake. He likes to put his head under my arm or up my shirt sleave and I miss that about him.

It does sound like Coco's a male who's looking for love. It's pretty common for males to go on a hunger strike during breeding season, so don't panic if he turns down a meal or two. Snakes' behavior can also change if there's a change in the household. Did you get a new pet? Are the viv's surroundings different? Is the house temperature suddenly diffferent? Did you change laundry detergents, shampoo, or other personal care product? That can alter your scent, causing the snake to react differently.

I've found with my non-breeding males that they're less agitated if I just keep handling them as usual. It takes longer for them to settle down - and some days they just move constantly - but it seems better all around to keep the routine as usual. Hope that helps, and I hope Coco tucks himself into your sleeve again soon.

Although i am far from being an expert with snakes as i am a newbie...from what i have read on several posts and advise being given about my 5 foot corn, it sounds like he is searching for a mate. Mine too is acting this way, very active at night and day, and twitchy...mine has not been eating either...i am waiting to see how he will react to eating this weekend as he has shown absolutely no interest in eating and seems very skiddish....hope it helps.
