i have a reg. corn snake it is about 6 months old.i got it in december of 03. it shed the day i got it,but it hasn't shed since. it eats like it should, coud there be something wrong?

Although not shedding for 3 months does seem like a longish time for a young snake it does not necessarily mean there is a problem.

What is the humidity in your cage? You could put in a moist hide box and see if that helps things along a little. (Any old hide they can go into filled with something like damp moss for them to crawl through).

How much , how often is it eating, and how much has it grown since you got it?

The humidity stays between 70 and 80.It eats a small fuzzy once a week. It hasn't really grown all that much. At least not enough to really tell if it did grow.

The humidity is between 70-80% or the tank temp. is between 70-80 degrees. If your humidity is that high, it's really high. You should have moisture on the tank sides all the time, and that's not healthy either. From what one of the people were measuring, they had humidity running (I think) no higher than 55% and getting a good shed.

I rechecked the post. The humidity levels were between 35-50% depending on if it was a rack (higher humidity) or a 20 gl. tank (lower humidity) He used wet paper towels to raise the humidity for a couple of hours and he's had complete sheds each time. Putting a wet paper towel under the heat lamp, and misting the tank each day until shed worked for mine. She shed whole. I did turn off the heat lamp the day she shed, and she crawled inside the wet paper towels until she shed out.

My albino corn snake is in a tank right next to my reg. and it sheds normally. it is under the same conditions as the reg.The temp. in my room and thier tanks stay between 75 -80 degrees.

Is your snake normally active and pooping normally?

I would really be thinking about taking a fecal sample to your vets for testing. At least that will rule out a parasite problem that could stop it growing. Other than that, you could increase feeding to once every 4-5 days instead of once a week. If the fecal comes back negative, I guess you'll just have to be patient!

Good luck!
