Why Wont She Eat?!?!?

R.I.P. ashes
i have had my cornsnake for a couple weeks and first i tried to feed three times once every couple days, and then i waited a week and i have had it in there since yesterday and she WONT eat, i left it in there over night and she didnt eat it so i cut its head and left it in there for today and she didnt eat it. WHY??? i havnt held her and i have left her alone. i am really mad cuz the person i bought her from said she would eat with no problem! waht can i do???

There can be literally dozens of reasons.....

What temperature is the warm end? Cool? Is there loud music nearby? What kind of water are you using?

Can you tell us what you've tried so far?

the warm end is 79-84 and the cold is 69-75 and i have had some loud music a while ago but that was cuz i forgot about it stressing the snake, and i havnt held it.
i am using regular water out of the sink(our filter thing broke about two weeks befor i got her) i would use filtered but i cant right now. and all i have tried is puting the snake in a small deli cup in a dark closet over night, leaving the mouse in over night, and then i just cut the pinks head a little bit, but i dont think i cut it enough. i have tried live. f/t and freshly killed.

and i put a blanket over the whole cage the last time i tried (to make it dark).

Was the snake "awake" when you tried to feed her? How do you feed the pinky/mouse? Do you use thongs? Has the snake got a hiding spot? Is she going to shed? how was the last shed? Flaky or all in one piece?

yes the snake was awake and i just took the lid off and put it in there and the lady i got her from said that she was eating good befor, so i dont know what is wrong.

Something that you might try to do is to scent the mouse with an Anole. Hatchling Corns will often feed on Anole lizards in the wild.

Also, you might want to look into either bottled water, or letting your tap water sit for 24 hours before you give it to the snake. Chlorine can kill a snke if ingested. Also, there could be other things in the water harmful to a snake.

Has the snake shed for you? Can the lady that you got the snake from tell you when they last shed? if the snake is ready to shed, it will usually not eat.

Hope things turn around for the better.
