Why is there so much evil in the world? It seems like everywhere I look there is a story about more evil. Kids dieing in a school shooting, more deaths from this war, people doing things that just... is not right. I sometime wish that everyone could find a "happy" place and go there when they feel like they need to do something "evil". I don't understand why any college student would want to end their own life and take others with him/her. Why could they not talk to someone? Pick up a hobby? Sport? When ever I feel like taking the steps that far to many have taken I play with my snake or read a book, go for a run, talk to someone, write out my feellings, or cry. Why can't other people do the same? It's not hard. Of the few that can't seem to millions of others can so why not them? What do they seek to gain?

Sigh. It's hard sometimes when I hear that yet another college has been hit. I lost a friend with the VT shooting and hearing about University of Illinois I know how the friends of those kids feel. It breaks my heart knowing that this evil is out there. How safe are we at a place where we are to be safe? School is our safe place. The one place that we are safe from the world, at least thats what we are told to think. How safe are we now? How many kids are going to want to go to school, be it high or college, if they know they are taking their life into their own hands? It's a scary thought.

Then again, how can they make schools safer? College campuses? How much safe can you make those? I mean next to putting a fence around the whole place and have armed guards... not much.

It's unfortunate. We don't live in Utopia and that's the way things go. And the more people there are on the planet the more lunatics there will be.

If you think about it, that's kind of the way things have always been for mankind. We like to get complacent though.

Sometimes I wonder why there is so much trouble in the world. I think there are many evil people, or at least ignorant and uncaring. All you can do as an individual is strive not to be like them. If you get a gut feeling about somebody that they mean you harm, trust your gut. I have felt better about things since I moved here in 2005. San Francisco Bay Area was getting hard to live in, people put so much value on their cars, their things. I had somebody chase me on the freeway down there once, I accidentally cut him off. He pulled up next to me and showed me a hammer, this guys face just spoke volumes of hatred. I had to take the wrong exit and backtrack, I really felt if he caught up with me he would have done something. All over road rage!
If you want to do something to combat the evil try doing something good, random acts of kindness, pay it forward and all that.

I wish I knew why the world is the way it is. Maybe more people need to remember the "Golden Rule". Love and care are not four letter words. I know many will say how corny this is, but not really.
My hubby works at a school at night and he is there for four hours alone. So many things have happened all little things but still. Someone smeared yogurt all over our new PT cruiser, a few days later they smeared yogurt all over cafeteria windows. This week he is being watched with a lazer light or something. Sheriffs think it might be a gun scope or something like that. So next time they aren't going to broadcast they're coming in case person has a scanner. My husband is a school custodian, easy going guy, literally can't kill a worm. I don't get all this violence, I really don't. I do know this it is very sad.
