Ok so hopefully this thread is not too old... I read that a good way to keep mice out is to put a snake shed in an area where they go/have gone. I guess to warn them that they could be dinner?? If anyone has tried this, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Supposedly our neighborhood has a big problem with roof rats and mice. I have not seen anything along with my neighbors directly next to me. And we have a few citrus trees which is what they are after. The only thing that I can think of that sets us apart is I am the only one with snakes. I will take my older snakes out when they need to poop and the weather is nice to slither around the yard and they almost always poop. So jokingly I told my neighbors for $5 a week (per house) I would have a snake poop in their yard once a week. lol
BUT....
My mother had a pack rat problem at the same time as she had a den of rattlesnakes in her basement. Now the rattlesnakes are brumating right now so they aren't eating or shedding but as she said "It is sick and wrong to have a rattlesnake and rat problem at the same time". So I am not sure if what you heard could be true but based off my experience I don't see why not. :shrugs:
