Will my snake drown in the water bowl?

I have a water bowl which is filled about 1.5 inches deep. My snake occasionally sticks his whole head under the water. Is that okay? And he is about 20 in long. Is there a chance he might drown?

Snakes have survived for thousands of years in the wild. One little water bowl isn't going to kill them. But, take note if you find him spending an above average amount of time in the bowl, there could be a reason he feels the need to soak himself. Shedding, mites, etc.

I have actually had one snake drown in a water bowl, but she wasn't your typical snake. She was a baby that hatched with no eyes, and she had been working on her first skin shed. She was the most unique snake I ever hatched, and it was sad to find her dead in the water dish... but I don't think that would likely happen to a snake that could see where it was going.

Wow! That's crazy!

Your snake probably has a better chance of getting hit by lightning as opposed to drowning in his water dish....unless you hold his head underwater.
