Will she become egg bound?

This morning before I left for work at 6:20am I saw that my corn had her pre-egg laying shed. When I got home this after noon(2:30pm) I found that she had passed two eggs one good one bad in the hide box on the cool side. She was in the hide box on the hot side with fresh wast but no more eggs? How long before I worry about whether or not she is egg bound? I felt her and she still has some in her.
Thanks,
Trevor

I would think..

Anything over 2-3 days would be cause for concern. It took mine from around 7 am to 5 pm to lay all 13 of her eggs. She finally started laying 12 days after her shed, and only cause I finally got the laying container as she wanted it. =P

Just give her time to do her job, and it should turn out fine in the end. =)

I'm just concerned because she started and then stoped. Last time she did take all day but she stayed in the same box the whole time. The fact that she changed boxes is what is bugging me.
Thanks for the reply,
Trevor

Hmm...

Yeah, the changing boxes thing sounds odd to me as well. I gave mine a choice of mediums: moss or vermiculite. Sounds like she needs to lay, yet isn't satisfied or comfortable with the laying boxes you have chosen for her.

She preferred the moss, but only if I stuffed it in the box as much as possible. You might try that and see if she settles down and likes that better.

Before, I had about 1-2 inches of a gap between the top of the medium and the lid. She would go in there, but wouldn't stay. Once I stuffed the box full of moist moss, she immediately went in and stayed in there to lay hours later. Thats about the only thing I can suggest, is to fill your laying boxes full of moist medium and see what she does with that.

Keep us informed. =)

I cannot say this is for sure, nor do I have much experience and certainly no experience like your situation but I have seen it written a few times on this board by respected members that slugs sometimes come out earlier than good eggs....but take this with a grain of salt for now, and hopefully someone more experienced with answer with some degree of certainty.

:) I hope she is totally o.k. and you get some great eggs !

I forgot to mention that this is her second clutch this season. Her cage is set up just like it was the first time. The other thing that is bugging me is that she only shed this morning. I know that some corns have laid while their eyes were still blue but last time she went a week before laying. Last time I checked she was out side streched out along the back of the cage. Maybe she is crusing looking for the right spot. It's still early I just got nervouse when I saw only two eggs and her in the other box.
Thanks again for the replys,
Trevor

Clutch number two is being laid as I type this! It has been five days since she shed and passed two eggs and 39 days since she was paired with my snow corn. I can’t wait to see how these guys are going to look like!
Cheers,
Trevor

Thanks. Here are the final numbers. Including the two she laid the day she shed she laid 26 in total, 17 of which made it to the incubator. It took a lot out of her. She came out of brumation weighing 507g. She went into her first clutch weighing 652g. She weighed 700g when she refused her first meal. After laying her first clutch of 22 eggs, only 10 of which were good she weighed 535g. When she refused food again for the second clutch she weighed 618g. After laying this clutch she only weighs 425g. Putting the weight back on her is going to be a long slow process.
Thanks all for the replies,
Trevor
