Wire for Vivs?

Jrgh17

Are we there yet?
Aside from the obvious sharp edges and such, is there any type of hanging wire or similar that isn't okay to use in the Viv? For instance, any metals that cause problems? I'm thinking of using some of the braided picture hanging wire to hang stuff, and want to know if it'll cause any problems.

Thanks!

I would avoid any type of metal wire that tarnishes or rusts, as this would indicate that a chemical reaction has occurred--and I wouldn't take any chances with this coming into contact with a snake (even though down here in the south, corns are drawn to metals because of there ability to heat up from the sun--see the book Herping the Carolina Tin Fields).

I would also be concerned about the potential for a snake being pinched by the braided wire you referred to.

If I was to hang anything in a viv, I would go with something like a sisal or hemp rope/twine. I think this would be safer, less expensive, easier to replace, and more natural looking.
