Wood question for a DIY rack.

So I want to build a 6 unit viv and I was wondering wich kind of wood would be better to use. I know some are toxic for snake and want to make sure everything is gonna be alright. Thanks!

I use melamine. It's safe and easy to keep clean! Plus it looks nice! You can use most woods, but be careful of the types of glues they use in some plywood. Also, check your paints and stains, then make sure they dry very well, before putting your snakes in the vivs.

I've used Birch and Pine with good success. Just make sure that when you seal it you get a nice silky smooth seal (to make clean up easier - you don't want any rough spots for poo/urates to get stuck in) and to also make sure you let the sealant fully cure (I let mine cure outside for ~4 weeks).

I like melamine too. It's nice and smooth and level and ready to go without any addition labor on my part. Can't remember which one right now but, Home Depot or Lowes sells it in 4x8 sheets and will cut it for you, great for a lazy guy like me.
