so it's been awhile since i have been on but thought i would share this.

Last night i had my graduation party, and my boyfriends mom wanted to see my snake, so i took him out and ya. well i put him back in his tank and let him be. Well today, not 10 min ago, i went to put my shoes on and i felt something in there, I looked and what do you know, Ichiro is in ther. I freaked and scream and tossed the shoe on the floor (not hard, just kinda dropped it). I guess I forgot i had a snake lol. Well it turns out that the branch that i have in there was right in between the tank and the lid giving him a spot to get out. He got out and i didnt even know it and flound him like hours later lol. I feel that i was very lucky. And this was the first time he ever got out. He was pretty pissed too. He started rattling his tail lol.

I feel as if i should put some weights and more tank clamps on top of the lid...
 
I got bricks on one of my tanks and duck tape on another. They don't realize the best place for them is in their viv's where we can care for them. But if it found it's way out it will try to get out the same way again. Sneaky buggers.
 
Y'all need to catch some of my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Its good for something ya know? Like triple checking the locks on all of the tanks 3 times a day?
 
You lucked out! It's so scary when you realize they've gotten out, but it's pretty funny that you found him in your shoe.

I had the same problem with a branch of fake flowers and my baby King's viv. The branch got stuck at the back of the lid, and even though the latch on the lid locked, the branch held it open at the back just enough for Quetzal to sneak out without my noticing. The next night my cat started freaking out about something below the bookshelf Quetzal is kept on. I was so lucky he noticed him. Quetzal was scared of the cat and dashed into the bottom shelf, where he was found behind some binders trying to look innocent.

My carpet python managed to get out through a faulty lid and decided she was going to slip into a vent along the floorboards and wind herself around the electrical box for a light switch INSIDE of my wall. It took us two days to find her and a few hours to pull the box out of the wall and coax her out with food, then re-wire the whole light fixture. Now I have developed serious snake viv OCD. I check and re-check their cages about ten times before I can actually go to sleep or leave the house.
