Honestly, I hadn't thought about what I might name her. Since she hasn't been shipped yet, I guess I didn't want to get too far ahead of myself. I still have to set up her home, and make sure all the temperatures are correct.
I hadn't originally planned to get a snow, but I knew I wanted to order from Kathy. There are a few places locally I could have bought a corn already, and for a good deal cheaper since shipping wouldn't be a problem, but I decided that for my first snake I'd do things right. My first choices were either an Okeetee or a Miami, but Kathy felt her Miamis she had left weren't the best. When she posted the pics of her remaining '03s, my eye was caught by another Snow she had. It's a wierd story, actually. Kathy said that in the 2 hours after she posted the pictures of the 40+ corns she had left, only two people had replied and both of us wanted the same Snow. Since I was second, I decided to choose a Snow which I believe to be a sibling of the one I wanted. So, that's how I came to get this snow.
Simon, thank you. I visited your website and read your story about how you came to keep snakes. My story is much the same, but started with fish. We're even within a few months of the same age. I tend to get very heavily into whatever hobby I choose and I can easily see myself going into heavy breeding. As I was reading your story of how you got started, a lot of things sounded like myself. I was even MORE startled when I read the part about you staying with the Loves for 3 weeks. I had thought that if I got heavily into keeping herps, I'd do the very same thing! Who better to learn from than the masters themselves?
Sandra, as you'll see above I'll probably collect lots of herps in the future. I live in an apartment right now, so my space is limited. Rack systems seem to cater nicely to that, but I would certainly need more space. I can see myself becoming obsessed very quickly. I actually prefer the darker colored corns or the very bright hypos, sunglows, amels etc over the lights and whites, but this one I like even still. I'm hoping to get another very soon, but am inclined to wait a few months to make sure I have learned the basics.
