Yea!!!!!! Second successful feed!

We just got a new corn about 2 1/2 weeks ago (thanks Terri!) and my son named him Thunder. We just fed him successfully for the 2nd time yesterday! (I'm so excited because previously we had 2 baby corns who refused to eat.)
He was born on 7/7 this year and when we fed him yesterday, the lump was gone by today. Does this mean he needs to eat more or move up to a larger size pinkie? I certainly want to make sure he is satisfied! :crazy02:

Thanks!

Could be!
What the size of the snake?
The rule I think is 1 1/2 of the widest girth . If you feed one pinky I say more up to two then after some feeding move to one fuzzy.

Question...

If we feed 2 pinkies, do we do it at the same time? Put both pinkies in the container with him and see if he eats both? Or offer one one day, and the second pinkie a few days later?

I usually offer one,and when it's about halfway down the body, I offer the next. After a few feedings like that, I move up to fuzzies. At that time I also switch to once every 7 days for feeding from every 5 days.

Hi Lisa! I am glad you guys are enjoying Thunder, and that he is doing so well for you. He is probably getting big enough now to eat 2 pinks per meal, but I recommend giving him 2 or 3 more "1 pink" meals just to give him a bit more time to settle in before moving up his meal size. Feeding larger meals can cause them to regurge if they aren't ready to move up. I think it is best to play it safe and wait a little longer.

Thanks Terri!

We'll just offer one pinkie per feeding for now and possibly move up to 2 pinkies in a few weeks. Thanks to all of you guys for your help! Thunder seems to be settling in quite nicely and likes to explore his viv and has even crawled to the top of the tank a few times to lie in the lid ridge.

Meg obviously has more experience than myself with my first corn, but I offer 2 pinks at a time and have had no problems. I must say I was a little worried after this last feed, my snow ate the second one backwards (tail first) and I have read here that it can slow digestion sometimes but that was monday and although it usually poops it out sooner it just got rid of the rest of it today. Good luck with Thunder! I would venture to guess you will soon be :crazy02: about corns!

I agree! You'll definitely have more than one eventually.....I always go up to two before feeding the next size up. They do fine. I had one of mine eat her rat pup backwards yesterday, starting with one hind leg! How she got that thing down is beyond me!
