I have seen the Zoo Med's Temp 500R's for sale at several locations. I would like to know how they work and how well they work. I believe it is thermostatic controlled rheostat but there is not a lot of information on the web page about it. Also if it is a rheostat how many watts is it rated for?

Thanks

Yes it is an on off thermostat that helps control the temps in your cage. It works well if you have a cage that is insulated, but if you are using an aquarium with a heat mat, then I would suggest just using a reostat, like the Zoo Med Repti Temp 500 or if you know any thing about wiring, you can wire up a dimmer switch.

The 500R is the Tstat and the 500 is the reostat. Both are rated at 500 watts.

I hope this helps.
