Tiger, monkeys, and binturongs...oh my! (Massive DUW)

AshleyShadows

It piss me so bad.
Well today I finally got to go on a field trip with the fourth year vet students at work. We went to TGRExotics in Spring, TX. It's owned by a single family, and they own some of the most amazing exotic animals. They have permits for everything, and their facility is well taken care of and so clean. I was beyond impressed. Many of the animals they have are in breeding programs that supply to zoos, and they raise future helper monkeys. We got to tour the facility, and pet almost everything! I took a ton of pictures and thought y'all might enjoy.

Please refrain from replying until I'm done.

First off we've got a mix of kangaroos and walabys. They have a ton here and breed them. The two babies are being raised in house, and there's even an albino.

There are the birds, two of the rarest and most expensive in the industry - red-tailed black cockatoo and a hyacinth macaw.

And then here's a striped hyena. There's also a spotted that I didn't get pictures of. These were some of the few animals here I didn't get to pet due to poor manners.

Here's Petunia the Indian porcupine. She was a sweetie.

And apparently they like hairless animals here too...they had like 5 Xolos (Mexican hairless dogs) and this sphynx.

They also are one of the few breeders of kunekune pigs. They're a stupider, slightly smaller, and way pricier version of a pot-bellied pig. Cost between $1500 and $3000!

Only one more post...

And finally the monkeys! It's been a life goal of mine to touch a monkey so I was so excited. They had a spider moneky, two gibbons, two kapuchins, and a howler. My favorite was the black gibbon. I couldn't catch a picture of it, but he'd smile when you tickled his tummy!

Thanks for looking! Feel free to ask any questions about the animals!

Thank you! I just love them; such cuddle-bugs! And their babies are called bintlets...how could you not love that?!

They certainly do.

And, of course, you know that gibbons are not monkeys . . . ;)

Looks like a super fun day!

Really great pictures! Thanks for sharing!!! I would love to see a Bengal, or some of the Lemurs and Monkeys that you posted in person, but the pictures were a nice alternative to the real thing :)!

Thanks, Michael!

They were all so sweet. I was sad not to pet the tiger (who was in a very happy mood :D), but I've pet one before, so it was ok. The lemurs and monkeys were just so fun and had the greatest personalities. I'm happy their in a place that can handle them well and knows proper husbandry because they're just too precious.

There were a few baby monkeys we couldn't take pictures of, but they were so beautiful and tiny. They could fit in the palm of your hand. I'm excited about them eventually having babies because this is a place that won't just rip the babies away from the mom's day one like most awful places.

Then be on the look out for flying poo!

Oh you get that from both monkeys AND apes. It's worse with apes, for most of the apes have MUCH BIGGER POO. And that's not counting the accurately and deliberately aimed :puke01:, which you can get from a particular ape, but no monkeys I've heard of.
