Hey everyone, sorry i havnt been on here in a while, i have had some things going on and i have been busy. How is everyone doing? I am thinking about getting another snake soon, i just went a couple days ago to pick up a 10g, 20 long, and 20 high. The 20 high i am making right now for some hourglass tree frogs, i was thinking about maybe putting a snake in the 20 long. What do you guys think i should get? Right now i have a ball python and a pueblan milk snake. I am not sure what other snake to get, if you guys can help that would be awesome. If you guys want you can post pics of the snake also to try and get me to be interested in that one ;) lol.

Alright ill keep that in mind. What kind of snake is that again? Lol im sorry im not that fimular with snakes for that kind of names lol. I'm more of a frog guy, but love reptiles also.
 
Alright cool, i might try a corn again, last corn i tried did not go well, he got impaction and died :( i have no clue what went wrong, i didnt do anything wrong at all. Also aout the frogs and their set up, do you want me to make a new thread for them or put them on this thread? I would love to post pics of them :)
 
If you use newspaper bedding it can't get impaction. Or perhaps repti carpet if you're good about cleaning the viv out and changing it. :)
 
Okay i might try it, im not sure, my other snakes use aspen and they are not having a problem, just that one cornsnake did. Sorry about the frog pictures, my computer is messing up and they wont load on here, so i will try later, ill put them in a new thread called my frogs :). Also has anyone had experience with venomous snakes?

Oh ok, i think a copperhead would be so cool to have. They are a pretty calm snake also, i just dont know, it would be my first venomous snake and i would be a little scared, but i think it would be so cool. What do you guys think about it?

I don't want to come across as an adult who thinks they know everything, but I'm not sure a 15 yo is ready to own a hot. I would suggest finding someone who keeps hots in your state & doing an apprenticeship with them so you could learn the skills to keep yourself safe while taking excellent care of the snake BEFORE you venture into buying a hot. Copperheads are very attractive, so I can see that they would be a neat choice for a hot, but don't move too fast, that's how you get envenomated! Talk to the hot owners here about the issues; maybe they can hook you up with someone who can teach you how to handle hots.
 
Okay, you make a good point. I will talk to people and do a bunch of research before i think about getting one, Does anyone know any members on here that keep copperheads? Or and venomous snakes? So i could talk to them and stuff.

well i think you get a venomos sanke that had the venom glands remove, but i dunno if thats the way to go........ what u guys think.
 
There is definitely someone who keeps copperheads. Do a search on copperheads here.

Urban, you're referring to the surgery that makes "venomoids" & it's really controversial here. Search on it & you'll see. My own feeling is that it's better to learn how to care for a hot than take the chance the surgery was botched & the snake still has venom. Besides, the consensus here seems to be that the surgery is cruel & rarely justified.
 
Oh i didnt know that, what does it do? They just take the venom glands out so if it bites you its just like a regulr non venomous snake bite? How much do you think it would cost?

Yes by surgery, i agree with you is better to learn how to care for them than to put them thru all the procedure, but wouldn't be cool to hold a eye lash viper without the i might die part.
