New health care bill

Really interesting article in News Week.

He's telling people what they want to hear, not what they need to know. Whatever their sins, insurers are mainly intermediaries; they pass along the costs of the delivery system. In 2009, the largest 14 insurers had profits of roughly $9 billion; that approached 0.4 percent of total health spending of $2.472 trillion. This hardly explains high health costs. What people need to know is that Obama's plan evades health care's major problems and would worsen the budget outlook. It's a big new spending program when government hasn't paid for the spending programs it already has.

Um, it's 3 hours because having a kidney stone is not more important than say, . . . et al
Wow. That was your interpretation of my post?? Interesting!

MY 3 hour visit to the emergency room had nothing to do with heart attacks or bullet wounds ahead of, or behind, me. Nor did it have anything to do with my having insurance, or not having insurance. My statement was that I visited the emergency room for a measly 3 hours and was charged $4500 for a kidney stone. A kidney stone that passed on it's own.

This wonderful amazing almighty savior of a national health care system is NOT going to change the ridiculous costs of procedures in the hospitals. THAT was my point. $3800 for sitting in a CAT scan machine for 20 seconds. Awesome!!

With or without insurance THAT is what's ridiculous with the health care industry. If we're already paying for other people's health care the way it is, this national health insurance system won't fix the real problems at all. It will only make them worse.

Need me to spell it out any clearer?

A three hour wait in the ER might even be a cost controlling thing.
The amount of time has little relevance other than it was about $1500 per hour spent there. I was in a room right away.

Somehow I don't think spelling is the issue here rather education.

MY 3 hour visit

You only spent 3 hours in the emergency room for kidney stones???? :awcrap:

I went twice for mine, the first time I got there at 3am and left at 10am = 7 hours

Four days later, I wound up back there and spent 3 hours in the waiting room, while the kid with the sore throat and runny nose went ahead of me. That doesn't include the additional five and a half hours I was there getting treatment.

Man, I gots to move to the Dakotas :sidestep:

Stop talking in txt tlk plzkthx. You're in your 30's. I have used chat all of 4 times. If you all see it as a safe-haven for gossip that's your choice, but I was under the impression we were arguing healthcare, not being gossipy little hens about people we have never and will never meet. Honestly, I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want to lord yourself over me because I'm young... DON'T ACT LIKE A DAMNED 13 YEAR OLD GIRL.

By the way:
Ad hominem abusive usually involves insulting or belittling one's opponent, but can also involve pointing out factual but ostensible character flaws or actions which are irrelevant to the opponent's argument. This tactic is logically fallacious because insults and even true negative facts about the opponent's personal character have nothing to do with the logical merits of the opponent's arguments or assertions.
I honestly don't know where you pull this superiority complex out of, but I bet it's not somewhere that gets much sun.

Look, little one...once again I'll refer you back to your judgmental, infantile posts on this thread. You have the audacity to pretend that you know squat about politics...not that someone of your age, although someone much mature couldn't know such things...sadly, you do not. You think you can come here and start your crap that you've been regurgitating since the minute you stepped into this forum. Trust me, I'm not the only one that's tired of it. you know what, I don't feel that I need or deserve any more respect than you, however, I at least try to have a basic concept of something when I try to discuss it. You read a sound byte and try to pass it off as something intelligent...and just now you have to again go back to infantile ways..."oh I don't agree with your clique." You know what, chica? This isn't about cliques and HS popularity BS....this is about people's lives. Do you really think there is one person on this forum that deserves your righteous crap about being so selfish and bigoted that we would not want another human being to be allowed health care? Trust me, I want you to receive all the mental health care you deserve and then some.

I stand by my earlier statements...when you can give some modicum of rational thought to what you post, and when you can actually add something worthwhile to this thread...let alone to this entire forum of which you've made yourself a laughing stock...then get back to us. Until then, grow up a notch and pay attention in class rather than playing around on the 'net.

Oh no, Lori! Are you saying that people thousands of miles away from me who've never spoken to me in real life and have no common interests with me besides a love of snakes MIGHT NOT ADORE ME? Well, my world is absolutely ruined now. I can't help but notice you don't say anything to David shouting Obamacare every chance he gets; but then, I suppose people are only uninformed and regurgitating soundbytes when they don't agree with you, aren't they?

Do you even bother to read the garbage you post? This is about real issues, little girl. Move along now. Thank god for the ignore feature.

OOooo OOoo I know, I know :wavey: :wavey: Homonym :clears throat:

Haha...cute, Wade. :p

So, back to the important issues....has anyone looked at the Washington Post tool that Dale posted on his FB? I put in several different variances of incomes, dependents, self-employed vs. hc through employer, etc. It almost seems like a cookie cutter recipe, and that scares me. It reminds me of the DRGs that the insurance companies began enforcing in the 80s. Need bypass? Forget any possible variables, get your butt in and out in 3 days. Forget the weeklong stay for childbirth. Now you're in and out in 24 hours...maybe we'll give you an extended 12 hours for a cs. I'm truly afraid for my elderly family members here. I've yet to see an administration tackle the issues as an altruistic act "for the people." Have you?

Haha...cute, Wade

Ooo you make me so mad when you talk down to me. Cute Wade. I ought to give you one up side the head young lady. Heard somewhere you were in your 30s. Yeah right.

LMFAO! I was so waiting for someone to call that! Shoulda known it would be you!!

Back to the issues, young'in!

This past time. The first time it was an overnighter because they couldn't find anything. My wife didn't even show me the bill from the first time I was in. I saw the one from this past summer. :crazy01: 3 hours, $4500.

How could she 1600 posts in since Nov. she has been a busy little girl. Then again I only bawbawbaw on about myself.
Which may be part of this entire debate most of us are affected by this and some of us have enough common sense to actually be concerned about it.
I hate ignore though because then what do I do with Jazzs popcorn and soft drinks.

wow...I took a pass on this thread because I'm Canadian, and thought I wouldn't have much input...but when It kept growing and growing I wanted to see what was being said. I was really interested in how people in the states, people I know from other conversations, were reacting to this rather large shift in healthcare...
I didn't get a really clear picture on that, but I did see many posts from someone that I didn't recognise... I dont understand why Lexi would want to be so hurtful and rude at what I see as little to no provocation. I get that this is a very heated topic...but seriously? "all i hear is bawwwww...." was SO out of line. Mean for the sake of being mean, and nothing else. I have in the past, Lexi, enjoyed your posts. But I've lost my respect for you, not only for that post, but because you've said you don't give a crap about what I think, or how I feel, because we've never met and I live so far away. You don't care about what any of us think or feel, you SAID that in plain English and I've taken it personally, as I would expect everyone who reads it would. Thats how it seems to be intended. If it was just directed at Lori, then you would have said that. You said 'a group of people' and thats a group I concider myself a part of. THIS WHOLE COMMUNITY. I joined this forum to make friends. I care about my friends. I value my friends weather they are in my town and I see them daily, or if they are online and I type to them whenever. They're my friends. You dont seem to subscribe to that way of thinking. So fine. Your not here to make friends. At least now you've made that much clear.

Well, in an earlier post of mine in this thread, I posted some 2009 numbers for my business.
According to the national news (the one with Katie Couric) there is a good chance that we might qualify for a 30% reduction in our health care insurance...

First thing, I'll believe it when I see it.

Second thing, even if it is true and we do end up benefitting from all this, I am still against it. (It's NOT "all about me!") Based on what I understand of this thing, I still don't think it is good for this country as a whole.

Third thing, Lexie, even though you and I mostly get along just fine, you are really really really wrong and out of line about this....
