The LeBron Topic!!!.

I kind of expected one of these threads to be up already, but it looks like I'll be the first to do it!. LeBron James agreed to sign with the Miami Heat tonight, becoming the third superstar to sign with Miami in the last three days. Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and now LeBron James will try together to win a championship, and maybe even more after that...As of the last few hours the Heat have also dealt Michael Beasley to the Timberwolves for a 2011 2nd round pick, so the Heats official roster now contains only 4 players; James, Wade, Bosh, and Mario Chalmers...Is this finally a team that can help LeBron on his way to passing Michael Jordan, or will this be the worst decision of LeBron's career?.

Here is my NBA Live simulation with updated rosters...

Miami Heat: 64-18 in regular season
LeBron: 23, 7, 9
Wade: 22, 3, 5
Bosh: 18, 10, 2
Championship: Lakers beat Heat in 6 games

And then there's this letter to Cleveland from the Cavs owner...

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING' WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert

Majority Owner

Cleveland Cavaliers

What a Dbag! :sobstory:

Did my Celtics at least make it to the Eastern Conference Finals?...

Wow!...Dan Gilbert is really bitter about this. I do feel bad for the real Cleveland fans in all this, but most of what I hear is people saying they hate LeBron, or that they're going to burn his jerseys. It's crazy how people change all the sudden, when just one month ago they were shutting malls down and creating parades in his honor...At least they still have a team. Seattle was never this bad about it, and they lost not only Kevin Durant, but the whole Supersonics franchise.

It's a business and I understand him going to the Heat. Though I think Chicago would have been the best fit if he really felt he had to leave to win.

The only part I have a real problem with is how he made such a drawn out spectacle of slamming the door shut on his way out of town. Being from here he knew what the city and fans have been through. We have "the move" "the shot" "the drive" "the fumble" and now "the decision". He should have just unceremoniously announced it with Wade and Bosh a couple days ago. JMO

It's no different than high school athletes announcing where they are going to college. I don't have an issue with any of it. And, although it wasn't the reason for the event, he did raise at least $540,000 for charity.

What had the Cavs done to prove that they wanted to win? They got a 38 year old Shaq? They traded for Jamison, when LeBron really wanted Amare? Anthony Parker? I would have gotten the hell out too.

I don't like basketball, but LeBron is a product that they made. Name someone "King" and constantly tell them how great they are and how far they'll go, and surround him with players and coaches that can't deliver, what did they think would happen when his contract was up? That he'd choose money over a ring? I also think it's funny that all those people in Chicago ran out and bought season tickets after hearing a rumor that he might go there, and now they're holding tickets that cost $3500+ for the same crappy team, lol...
I wonder if Pat Riley is going to coach the Heat now?

I think all professional sports should take the median salary of the people who go to the games and pay the players that amount, no more, no matter how good they are. Its a game, and their job, and its entertainment (I extend my salary theory to rock star and actors, too). People who save lives every day don't make that kind of money and I think they do more for this country than any basketball player.

Yep. Took Miami to 7 in the conference finals. :dancer:
Sweetness!!..Maybe our addition of Jermaine O'Neal and the Heat's loss of Michael Beasley can tip the scales then...Fingers crossed lol

The way I see it though, the players are the only reason people watch the games. The owners are the one's who should take a pay cut, and if they want to lower the cost of all merchandise I'm cool with that. Players earn their money though, and as ludicrous as some of their contracts are you always have to remember the teams themselves wouldn't pay these players the kind of money they do unless they could still turn a profit...I say make as much money as you can, because as a professional athlete your window is small.

As a Lakers fan i say bring it.......................No bench lol
Agreed...After signing Mike Miller to a 30 million dollar deal yesterday, I'm not even sure the Heat can sign a 5th starter lol. They're more than likely going to have to take a dip into the D-League to get this sorted out, which is great news for teams like Boston with more than 3 great players.

I bought my tickets to the Orlando Magic vs Miami Heat preseason game about an hour after he announced his decision. I spent $45 a ticket, now they are unavailable on TicketMaster (sold out?) and on StubHub tickets in my section are going for $130. I think I might just make some money out of this and spend it on tickets for a regular season game.

Either way, I'm super excited. I can't wait to see the 3 stars play together.
