Well they were actually on the side of the dumpster. I drove by one of the dumpsters that I usually find neat things at, its kind of a hobby of mine. Im a big fan of dumster diving and picking. Today was a great find. Two tanks one looks like a 30 gallon tall with hood and lights, the other is a front open tank it had a broken plastic clip on the top that holds the lid down, its nothing a couple of zoo med tank clips cant take care of. Have to get these disinfected and cleaned out. Anyways dont want to bore you all anymore heres the pics.

Nice find!
I once saw a 60 gal hex tank at the side of the road. I pulled over but unfortunately one side and the bottom was smashed.

Totally awesome! I could make Apotos and Daemon happy with all the climbing space those have. :p

I should start dumpster diving and screwing around in general when I get my license. Being stuck at home or being driven around by a menopausal 50 year old mother isn't too productive.

Oh yaaaay! I found a perfectly good 10 gallon tank with a filter, stand, and hood outside our dumpster once! (live in an apartment complex) I was soooo happy.

Great find. <3

Thanks for the comments guys. Ive only been dumpster diving and picking for the last two years or so. A good friend of mine got me into it, hes a big time picker. The normal finds are usually 55 gal and 10 gal tanks, they seem to be the most popular. I was excited when I saw these two. Now I just have to figure out what Im going to do with them and what Im going to put into them.

Actually, now that I look at it, that looks exactly like my 20 tall. I would also like to know the dimensions, maybe the photo just makes it look smaller than a 30.

NICE!!! Nothing cooler than empty tanks to fill :p expecially when they are free!!!

I have a 55 gal in my garage I need to fill :p

EXCELLENT score!

Believe it or not, many years ago when I lived in apartment complex, I found a long, skinny, tall, BIG tank in the dumpster. One of those ones with the chrome lining around it, and the chrome hood. And the thing was halfway filled with water. In that water were live fish! After I got over the worst of my rage at whomever would throw away living beings like that, I dug it all out and took it home. Nice score! I had that aquarium for years, until we took off to travel with the carnival :).

AWESOME finds!! Mmm that one on the right looks like a nice front opening Exo Terra! Very very nice stuff!!

In Eugene dumpster diving is "the norm" right after finals week. All the freshman move out of the dorms, and the things they throw out are RIDICULOUS! Things that they bought with their parents money that they might *oh no* get in trouble for!

People go around to the many many apartments that students live in as well. ALL the dumpsters of the town within a certain radius of the school fill up like crazy. I lived in one such apartment one year, but I was staying for the summer. I was doing my laundry, going to the laundry room, which you have to pass the dumpster to get to. Some people drove up and were very excited at my clothes. I told them that no, I wasn't throwing them all away and they seemed appalled! haha.

Hey once again thanks for the comments guys. You all were right the long tank has to be a 20 tall the dimensions are 20" long 10" wide and 24" tall. The front open one is a Zoo Med and it is 18" by 18" by 18". Im thinking of getting some fish for the tall tank and a gecko for the front face tank. I was thinking tokay, white line or crested well see when I get to a show. Once again thanks for looking.

Rick

I am so so soooo jealous that you found those for free! I am always on the lookout for a good cheap tank for a crestie but craigslist isn't very helpful and I have never seen any in the dumpsters around here.
