I found two babies.

1) I am not sure what type it is, but I know that it is a rattle snake, and am pretty sure it is not a western diamond back.

2)Not sure what this little girl is... I am pretty sure its a girl, it popped girl, but I will try later after it calms down and stops trying to eat me....lol I hope you guys can tell me what it is. It is a cutie and I ended up bringing this little girl home for some better pic's.

Those colors are its true colors. I was amazed at the green hue to the little one.

Well I found out what the little one is by a quick internet search. And, ding! What I thought was correct, it is a glossy snake.

Loves me some Glossy Snakes. :D I really wish the one I had had eaten for me. I rehomed him and he began chowing at the new place. :/

I tell you what, I wish I would have had someone with me that got out of the car for the rattlesnake. My wife didn't want me to go alone so she came along, but wouldn't get out of the car... If someone would have been there to distract the little rattler I would have gotten many more pictures of him. I love me some rattlers..... They taste good fried too...lol

Rattler.....

looks like a Prairie to me. There was a species called the Hopi that to me looked the Prairie. I'm not sure how far their range is into New Mexico. Maybe Chris being the West Rattler guy can tell ya.

I was thinking that it looked like a prairie, but I did see some pictures of the Hopi and it got me thinking, they look like they have the same markings.... hmmmm. But, I am in southern NM and the website I looked at said they reside in Northern NM...

What got me set onto this road was a web page I saw a hognose that had been caught on the same road I was on... There were a few more miles at least that I could have gone down, but my wife wasn't enjoying it so we came home...

enjoys the animals when we cruise but is scared we're gonna get creamed by traffic. Compounding the situation, she has night vision. Everything at night looks like it is right on top of you. I remember one night trying to corral a Pygmy she was screaming a car was about to hit me. I golfed the little guy off the road, looked up, the car was still way off in the distance.

A tip, Wal-Mart now sells safety vest for around ten bucks..... I'd invest in a couple.

The road I went to is basically abandoned. It only has 1 business and a house on it.. A horse riding ranch. I saw 1 car while we were out there. I have a feeling they were doing the same thing we were, unless they worked at the ranch and were going home...lol
