Questions about aspen.

Ok i wana use aspen so my snake can dig but i got a few questions. how do i tell when she uses the bathroom. i saw online that someone said they only do it every month or 2 but mine does it a 1 or 2 times a week. is that bad or what shes a hatchling. how often do i need to change it? ty in advanced (ps im geting it in like an hour so if u read this soon an asap answer would help lol)

As a hatchling their poo can sometimes be hard to spot, sometimes I miss one until I do a full change of aspen. But when she gets to a larger size you'll probably see them right away. Mine poop a few days after they eat.

All mine seem to poop around 3 days after they eat. The bigger ones poop is easier to spot. Though I think the babies poop is easy to spot too unless they hide it behind something or under the aspen.

As for cleaning I start looking for poop in the cage after they have finished digesting (I usually see it right away). I just get a paper towel or napkin and pinch the aspen around the poop and pick it up (poop and all) and throw it away. So doing this I rarely have to change out all the aspen.

Corns usually poop once or possibly twice between feedings. It's the ball pythons and boas that don't go every time. Until the corns are on hoppers their poo is very insignificant. It's hard to find. If you _don't_ find it, it's not a big emergency. You don't need to rip apart the viv and comb through every bit of aspen to find a tiny poo. Remove it if you happen to see it, and once a month or so go through the whole thing carefully when the snake is out being fed. It doesn't hurt to _smell_ the viv though- if you smell anything horrible (not poo-smelling) _then_ you need to comb through it to see if there has been a regurge.

If she's under the aspen, you don't. Whoever said they do it every month is wrong; that's BPs. Most corns have a bowel movement every week, though my okeetee is every 3 days or so.

Change out the tank you keep your corn in completely every month or so.

i agree with just about everyone. my snake makes a head call maybe 3 days after he eats.

i clean my tank completely every month. i pick out feces 2 times a month ( since my snake eats every 2 weeks) so after he goes i get it out. sincei dont not give him tap water i dont really open the tank up to give him water. i have a tiny slide door on the top i just open and put the water in the bowl from there.... i give my snake bottled water.

when i put new aspen in my tank i usually give the snake around 2-3 inches for it to be able to tunnel. i dont feed in the tank either to keep it from swallowing the aspen.

my snake uses the aspen to hide under instead of its hides.

Glad I'm not the only one who gives my animals bottled water. My tap water is white and fizzes.
