How Big?

Stormy

Keeper of scaley things.
Just like the thread says...I am curious on how big everyones 1 year old corns are. Like length and weight. My amel which is approaching 1 year old just shed and the shed measured at 42 inches and seems to be growing like a teenager or toddler. Im glad I dont have to buy clothes for her.

Mine is 15 months old if you would like to see pics? Just an FYI measuring the shed is inaccurate and is going to be longer then your snake due to it stretching out when coming off the snake! Here is a great program most users including myself use. All u have to do is take a pic of your snake next to a ruler or measuring tape & follow the steps! http://www.serpwidgets.com/Apps/apps.html

:) I only know that Slither was approximately 15" long close to her 1st birthday as I got her about 2 months after that. At almost 1 1/2 years, she was about 2' long & 80 grams...that's when we finally got a scale to weigh her. Her prior mommy let me know that she was actually a bit small as she hadn't been feeding her the correct size mouse. I'm happy to report that at 2 years of age she was 3' 2" & 283 grams.
:D Squiggle was approximately 2' & 78 grams at 1 year. At the beginning of this month, he was about 36" long & 199 grams. I think he looks really good & is a very good eater. He's only now starting to put some thickness on. The time before that appears to have been length.
 Now I get to start all over again watching Sprinkle grow & blossom. She's just a little bugger at about 12" & 19 grams.
:nope: Btw, measuring the shed is not an accurate measure of the snake. It's actually longer than they are due the fact that it does stretch. There are several methods to measuring snakes that is far more accurate. I usually just wing it myself. While they're sliding up my arm or down my leg, I try to remember where they came to. Or sometimes they go against the wall of their tank & I'm able to measure them from the top. Although these are not the best methods, they have to be more accurate than using their shed.

I should have also mentioned I compared Alex (my snake) to the shed since she was laying straight out and being still while watching tv. She is about 37inches compared to the 42 of the shed. So there isnt that much of a difference between the two.

Here's Dallas :)

Dallas is 15 months, 34 inches, & 220 grams!:madeuce:

Hes cute! I will have to try and get pictures of Alex tomorrow outside. The last ones I got were from early this summer. It is possible that she is close to that age. When I got her at the pet store they had already had her for a month (they even kept feed records and gave me a copy, unheard of in large chain pet stores). So I am guessing she was born sometime in November.

Honestly I was kind of afraid to mention her weight here. So many people tend to jump on others for the slightest thing. And I really dont feel like dealing with being jumped on. But she is at 194grams and that is with me following the munson plan for a good part of her feeding schedule until recently because we are raising our own mice so she is going a little bit longer between feeds since right now the mice are so small.

hey sarah thats a cool app, im going to have to load it on my pc and try it out, my lil corn is about 8 - 9 months and i think 24 inchs about

Well just make sure you take a pic of your snake NEXT to a measuring device aka ruler/yard stick....I didn't know that's how I was suppose to measure the snake! I was wondering what the heck i was doing wrong & why it wasn't working....yes yes i was having a RAtard moment! :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Did ya get your baby at Petsmart Stormy? The reason that I ask is that's where I happen to get Squiggle & he came w/his feeding chart. I've modified it to suit my needs & use it for all 3 of mine.
 Gorgeous baby ya have there Sarah. And now I gotta show off my babies. :D

Hard to believe how much my 2 have grown! It's even harder to believe that they were as tiny as Sprinkle. Thank goodness for pics, huh? ;)

Thanks for sharing I had never seen that. All of mine are in tanks so I just catch them when they are laying along the glass and take a sharpie and make a marks at their nose and tail. Then I will measure the marks. The sharpie comes off with alcohol then we are ready for the next time I want to measure. I got the idea when my kids were little they measured them kind of like that.

Other Louisiana person Yea. Mine is not year yet he is only about 4 months old and he is 15 inc long and I dont have a scale yet

You could also get a string or shoe lace and start at the head or tail and follow the edge of the body till you get to the other end, then measure the string when you're done

All of my yearling (15 months) corns are right around 32 inches, give or take a couple inches. I don't weigh snakes, but they look like I want them, normal healthy looking.
