Aspen

Tractor supply company and if i want the black aspen (Which i use for my CS), then i go to Petsmart

Hey Crazy Colubrids,

I get my aspen from Wal-mart. Some people do not like the Wal-mart aspen. You can get it at TSC like Haarstad said or any feed store should have it.

Watch out for the Black Aspen because it will make your tank cool looking like Haarstad's tank.

Love the Fatman

Haha, i love the black, it looks nice and all i need is like $1 a week to buy it, doesn't take much to save up for it lol

Early's Farm & Garden Centre, 2615 Lorne Ave Saskatoon, 306-931-1982.

I get a big bag that is approx. 8 cubic feet compressed to 3.5 cubic feet, at a cost of $15-$18. Even with all the snakes that I have, complete cage cleanings every 3-4 months and spot cleans with top up of Aspen if needed, the first bag lasted me approx a year.

Pet Supplies Plus, Tsc, Walmart, Pet Smart, Petco, and online. Try pet stores and farm/garden stores.

Do you go to Saskatoon or do they ship?

Garry, I have no idea if they ship, but I do go there quite often. I have been quite satisfied with this Aspen, the bottom of the bag gets to be a bit dusty as it has settled, after being "fluffed" up so to speak. Give them a call maybe they would sell you it on a credit card and ship it via bus collect, unless you are coming down anytime soon. It really is so much cheaper than buying the small bags at the pet stores.

Are there no feed or farm and garden places on either side of LLoyd that may sell it in bulk like Early's does?

Ya maybe I will look around and if I cant find anything I might contact Early's.

I went to that site the other day and I was quoted 112.00 for a 45lbs bag.

I don't know who you talked to, but the 45 lb. bag is listed at $20. The extra cost, which makes it expensive, is the shipping. Shipping that big of a bag could cost another $20, or more. I bought a bag over a year ago and it isn't even half gone, yet, and I have over 40 snakes. I recommend this bedding, because this is the best shredded aspen around...

:santa:

It's expensive to get the 45 pound bag because it's so big and needs to be shipped in an oversize container. It says on their site:

"Aspen Bed, 5 pound bag. Since shipping prices have skyrocketed our 45 pound bag of aspen has been hard to ship reasonably. We have re-bagged the large bags into 5 pound bags"

It would be nice had they made a size in between there somewhere.

Ya its the shipping that cost so much.

I think they still ship the 46 lb. bag, but you just have to pay the high shipping cost. I'd have to call and check, because it's been about a year since I got a bag.
