nic boas?

after weeks and weeks of debating what my second snake was going to be ive finally set my sights on a nicaraguan boa!! so im looking to pick up a nic from the austin expo this coming weekend and i had a few questions.

1. what should i look for (patterns, coloring) to make sure im getting a true nic?
2. whats a reasonable price to pay at a show?
3. any big questions to ask the breeder?

1. Nicaragua is considered to be a locality within the "Central American" complex. They tend to be a bit darker than BCI, with an organized pattern... however, to the inexperienced it can be difficult to know.
My suggestion would be to go to a reputable breeder.
There isn't something absolute I can tell you... they tend to have a more solid and joined pattern, and a cross like pattern on their head... but this is far from being absolute.

2. 100$? Depends on the animal. There are beautiful T+ albino Nics that have a very distinct look and can cost 150-250$.

3. Make sure it's a pure CA, make sure it has fed and so forth.

I do have CA's but not classic ones... so it'll just be confusing.

ok awesome thanks ive been trying to find as many pics as i can just to get ready so i have an idea of what they look like. and ive heard that alot of CA's are farmed rather than captive bred, and with those i definetly need captive bred right?

You always need CB animals- WC run the risk of disease, horrible temperament and parasites.
I would again advise to acquire a Hypo/T+ because these CA morphs have very distinct look which is different from the common boa versions. The T+ especially since it's very affordable as opposed to all three types of T+ in Colombians that all exceed the 1000$ marker.

You don't "need" a morph... but most are really nice looking.
The cheaper ones are the hypo and T+ CA Boas.
The more Expensive are the Blood and Leopard Boas.
