Anerys hatching, but not anery?

Hi,

I mated a pair of Anerythristics. The first hatchling was as expected, Anerythristic. Hatchlings 2 and 3 are not.

He's real dark brown and you can see orange spots between the saddles. The belly is all black checkers with white backround. There is a faint bit of orange near the tail. Anery to anery should produce all homozygous anery right? Maybe the pair is het caramel?
Thoughts?

Thanks

He looks like a Normal hatchling to me. I think someone said Caramel hatchlings do look normal, except they have more golden/yellow, where as the normals have the orange.

Did you own the female last year? If so, what did you breed her too? How many total eggs were laid this year versus how many hatched?

I am thinking retained sperm from last season, it is the only real explanation unless you had the female with another male.

I would think that even if they were het caramel they would be 100% anery. Possibly with the caramel yellows maybe being more evident than normal???
The iris looks a bit to dark to be caramel.

It has deffinately been a wierd year all around.

I'm curious what others will think.
Maybe we'll get an explanation. Looks like a plump lil heathy baby. Congrats, and good luck with the rest of them.

Sperm retention. Good call, lol

I was too involved with all the wierdness this year has delt out to see the most probable reason.

Gotta be it. I bought them about 6 months ago and was told they were bred together last year.

Thanks all for the replies.

That same pair was bred together prior? No other male involved?

That's what I was told, but you know how those things go. I was also told that the male was the female and vice versa so....

So far it looks like just the 2 normals, 6 anerys out. But 2 of the anerys are quite a bit lighter, so I am thinking possible ghost. The genetic lottery is fun! ;)
