Huge disparity in Breeders

Thank you to those who understand. I'm not attacking anybody. Drizz, I've sent 3 such emails, and got no further responses.

I'm not making generalizations. Just under 50 percent of breeders I've contacted have displayed poor customer service, exactly as my first post showed. And yes, many in this thread have taken my thread personally when it's strictly business.

'Over excited'? Nope, just trying to understand exactly which aspects of your consumer experiences you have issues with. And also explaining some of the frustrations in selling hatchlings as a hobby. Exciting is watching little egg teeth slitting eggs and seeing the results of projects coming to fruition. Being messed around repeatedly by potential buyers is boring and irritating, nothing to get excited over.......

I understand breeders have annoying customers. But that doesn't mean you ignore or mistreat a new customer.

Well, when you make generalizations about a hobby that people feel passionate about, you are going to get some heated replies.

You kicked sand on the play ground, and the ones of us who are serious about ethics got riled up at your flippant comments.

You make it sound like every breeder should be sitting on their computer waiting with baited breath on an email, then respond with a lengthy, well written reply. Then after they reply feverishly update there website. The real world does not work that way.

There are two sides to everything. You can't deny the right of breeders to reply and defend themselves.

I do want to admit a deficiency in my complaint. It's something I hadn't considered and is the one thing I've learned from this thread. I underestimated the amount of breeders that are hobbyists. When a breeder has a website, I see them as a business. When I get short responses and disorganization, I get annoyed. There is no excuse for no replies. I understand now that many of you work very hard, and I very much respect you for it. But I cannot know who is a hobbyist and who is a business, so I apologize if you don't apply to my complaint. I just expect good customer service from a seller. I did not mean to question anybody's character or work ethic. I just found customer service to be questionable.

No, I expect timely replies that answer my questions fully. Or, just a response at all from those that chose not to reply. Like I said, I'm not attacking anybody personally. I'm saying that 50 percent of breeders I contacted have poor customer service.

The interesting thing is, I've never gotten such well written and timely responses from breeders as I have in this thread

The vast majority of people you deal will be hobbyist. Very very very few are true "businesses."

By "business" I mean someone who sells reptiles only as a full means of supporting their household. I'm talking a 70/30 split or more in favor of hobbyist, probably an 80/20 is more likely.

The people in this thread are some of the top hobbyist around. You would do well to purchase a snake from any of us. Everyone that has replied is passionate and dedicated to this hobby.

Odds are the people you are complaining about would never even stop to read this thread. Instead you had the top notch hobbyist rising to defend themselves and show that's not really the case.

Ok bloody barroness, I completely agree with you and I thank you for making that point to me. I hope you and all of the other hobbyists in this thread understand that I was not attacking you personally. You all have beautiful snakes and I admire your passion and work. I, rather, was saying that I have experienced poor customer service by half of the breeders I've contacted. I really don't want anybody to feel personally insulted. If any of my comments have been personal, I sincerely apologize and assure you that it was not meant in that way. I am not taking my upcoming reptile purchase lightly, am putting a lot of thought into it and was just unhappy with a lot of my experiences.

And as someone new, I advise you all to put yourselves in my shoes. I'm new to our hobby and am receiving some terrible service from those that depend on the growth of the hobby

You got some attention from folks for sure, now how can we help you? :)

And it goes both ways, the communication issue...Why would a buyer sent three or so emails looking for your "bottom dollar" (sigh) and not even reply to the offer? Happens all the time. And on a site like this almost everyone who has time to post as much as they do is just a hobbyist; the business owners are off busy...running...a...business...?...;)

Yea, like I said, these were the most content filled and timely responses I've ever received from breeders.
