Starting to become irritated here.......

As for feed, I have always fed either some brand or another of rodent lab blocks, or sow cubes. Both seemed to work fine over the long term.

OTOH, I once had a friend who fed his rodents only dog food. After a couple of years, his snakes all looked healthy, but they were mostly on the fat side, and almost had a "greasy" look to them. And his snakes didn't really produce very well after consuming only rodents fed on only dog food. I suppose you could get away with SOME dog food - but I have no idea what percentage would still keep the rodents - and the snakes that eat the rodents - healthy.

When I visited a reptile breeder / private zoo in Russia, they were feeding their rodents on sprouts and seeds mixed together, since there were no lab blocks available. They had good success, but I am guessing that they researched rodent nutrition and were careful about the mix they offered. I didn't inquire about the details.

I actually just use pork grower. It works really good. I supplement with some dog food about one per breeder mouse per week. Rodent block is just to expensive for me.

That's what I'm using now along with the occasional carrot or apple and some birdseed. I can't find it without antibiotics though and I'd rather not be feeding antiboitics.

My local guy keeps 1 male to 15 females.. Lab block, dog food, seed, bread and a little freeze dried milk staple.. He produces around 600 pinkies a week..

My own mice, are mainly on seeds, some fresh fruit ( apple slices or strawberries ) and occasional scrambled eggs.. My Ratties eat a very similair diet, but occasionally get beef bones and a sardine here and there... I choose to try and feed my mice and ratties to my animals before I use anyone elses rodents, when I I can! Anytime I bring in new blood, they smell different from my colonies..

Thanks for every piece of advice, everyone! I managed to raise about 2-3 litters to hoppers so far and I have a fresh pinkie litter that arrived this morning! I tried each method and now it's all going very well!!! Once again, I thank this forum community for helping me with mice <3
