Quick background since Canadian politics almost never comes up here:
Jack Layton passed away a couple years ago. He was the beloved leader of the New Democratic Party, a left wing party that had never garnered more than a few seats in Parliament, but managed to explode into the official opposition in the last election. Layton passed away from cancer soon after that election and is survived by his widow, Olivia Chow, another politician. The party leadership eventually passed to Thomas Mulcair.
And this happened today:
I wanna vote for that guy. I mean, he's totally not my rep, but I wanna.
