RodentPro Prices?

I went to the Ohio Reptile Expo on the 17th to get a bag of fuzzies, which was $60 for a hundred, to my surprise. I certainly don't remember paying that much last time I got them (maybe $30?), but is that what it usually is? I was just kind of surprised.

There have recently been a series of events too long to go into right now (there's lots of threads about it if you feel like looking it up -- look around for RodentPro's mouse troubles).

The short version is that RodentPro (and possibly others, I'm not entirely certain) had to destroy a large percentage of thier breeding stock.

This has resulted in other vendors having to take up the slack and has caused a generalized shortage of mice just about everywhere.

Lots of places are sold out or have limited quantities and just about everybody has either eliminated the bulk size discounts or raised prices or both.

Hopefully things will return to more normal in a few months.

Yep. prices have risen. Will they go back down? I'm guessing it will be kind of like gasoline. Once they see that people are willing to pay more, will they lower them again, I wonder?

One reason to raise your own. I think more people will try that to fill the void and prices will have to drop again.

Supply just has to catch up to demand (I hope).

Yeah, those prices are ridiculous. Maybe I won't thump my colonies this weekend (since everybody's going into brumation soon) after all.

I would love to have a suitable outbuilding to raise mice on a bigger scale, like be able to build a bunch of racks and stuff. Seems like the demand for feeders is far higher than the demand for snakes to feed them to.

Ok, thanks. Yeah, I would raise my own, but I'm a high school student, and my mom would never let me! (typing one-handed with my baby black rat snake in my left hand!)
