Weird eating problem

First of all I apologize if my english isn't really good I hope you will still understand.
My corn doesn't really have problems eating unfrozen mice/rats. But lately he attacks the mouse, starts to swallow it and when he's at like half of the mouse, he just stops and "puke" it. It shouldn't be too big for him because he used to eat bigger mice than that. It's the 5th time he does it so I decided to chop the legs of the mouse. He did the same thing. I'm going to buy smaller ones this week but what do you guys think ?
Thanks

Is he getting spooked by anything? The only time I have seen mine do this is if something spooks them and they want to get away. Like one time I was cleaning cages and I let my motley eat in a tub instead of his cage and he saw me moving around and spat his mouse back out before realizing it was me. This is my only guess.

Is he being disturbed while eating? That sounds like he thinks he's being threatened and getting rid of the food so he can flee more quickly.

No, I make sure he's not getting disturbed I just made sure he would get past the front legs to see if that was the problem as if the mouse was to big but when he got past them I left my room and found the mouse when I got back later. The first time he did this I was just giving it to the snake so I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be the problem :(

The last time he ate the complete mouse is when I was standing there watching that's why I find this behaviour really confusing lol

They don't keep the same behaviours all their life, so it could just be that he doesn't like being watched any more - it could even be you moving to leave the room which is spooking him. Next time you feed him, try putting the mouse in with him just before you turn the lights out to go to bed. Then no checking on him at all until the morning.

yea with my boy, I put the lid on the feeding container once he starts and I just leave him be for 30 min. everytime i find him with a lump in his belly and the eagerness to return to his viv.

before i was having a problem with him even eating if I was near.
